Easy Does It
Recovery
Sunday has become a day of rest and recovery-an important aspect of training at this point. As my training becomes more focused and demanding, rest becomes more important as well. I’ve been adding miles and minutes in the last several weeks and there is a risk of hypertraining-overtraining in a way that makes me more susceptible to injuries. Coach Greg has provided me with a specific schedule of workouts based on time and exertion that should help me avoid these setbacks. Never having trained with this kind of commitment I want to guard against stressing my body past its limits. Sunday is one of the days to rest, the 30 minutes of “running” being a way to process out byproducts of our training without pushing ourselves too far. My easy loop too me from the house and down to the river for an mindless and familiar loop. With planned rest I should be able to develop more strength, endurance, and speed and avoid damage too.

2005, my family was badly shaken. But his strength, pragmatism, and demeanor throughout the course of his treatment comforted me in difficult times and his providence, love, and foresight help me move forward in his absence. I miss him everyday but his spirit persists in many tangible ways. He does not live in my mind with the illness he suffered but rather in the many long and happy years that preceded it. For visitors who knew my Dad, I hope this site recalls memories that make you smile.
